TCF was featured in Hawaii News Now’s Community Care Connection segment, which features local non-profit organizations helping raise and provide community education and awareness on a range of issues.
The Caregiver Foundation was created specifically to help seniors, disabled adults, caregivers, and families sort out some of the critical details in preparing for caregiving, undertaking the tasks of caregiving and handling the stress and emotion of caregiving.
The Caregiver Foundation was established by Gary A. Powell, a well-known business professional and long-time care provider in Hawaii, as a result of his first-hand knowledge and exposure to the needs of caregivers. Guided by a sterling Board of Directors and supported by an Advisory Board, the work of The Caregiver Foundation has become a vital part of the aging and disability community throughout Hawaii. Plans are underway for chapters in several other states.
Gary A. Powell becomes the first National Certified Guardian registered in the State of Hawaii
Posted April 28, 2010
The Center for Guardianship Certification announced today that Gary A. Powell has successfully completed the Certification Examination for the National Guardian designation.
In achieving this distinction, Powell has demonstrated “to the public, clients, and the courts that the certified guardian has sufficient skill, knowledge, and understanding of the universal guardianship principals to be worthy of the responsibility entrusted to him.”
Certification requires the guardian to commit to the high ethical standards as outlined in the NGA Code of Ethics and Standards and to maintain an on-going level of professional education and professionalism.
The Center for Guardianship Certification began in 1997 to “enhance the quality of guardianship services by providing examination and certification of guardians and fiduciaries.” It is the only national organization that certifies guardians.
The Caregiver Foundation of America is a Hawaii-based 501(c)(3) charity working to support the practical and emotional needs of caregivers and those needing care. Powell is the Executive Director of the Foundation. For more information call The Caregiver Foundation at (808)-625-3782.
