Youth Financial Assistance Fund
The Caregiver Foundation’s Youth Financial Assistance Fund is a resource for caregiving youth in Hawai’i who need monetary help to afford relief services, wellness and behavioral health support, and self-care activities.
This resource is provided through community partnerships and grants. The Caregiver Foundation would like to specifically acknowledge the support and guidance of the American Association of Caregiving Youth in developing this program.

Who is eligible?
- Young people 20 years of age and younger who self-identify as caregivers and live in Hawai’i are encouraged to apply.
- Priority will be given to youth who (1) report financial need, (2) describe substantive caregiving contributions (though they don’t need to be the primary caregiver), and (3) have a clear plan and rationale for the funds.
- Youth under the age of 18 must have the consent of a parent or guardian.
What can the funds be used for?
Funds are awarded in amounts ranging from $200 to $1000. Funds should broadly serve the purpose of supporting a young person’s overall wellness and mental health. Examples of appropriate use for funds may include:
- Caregiving relief services/respite care
- Bills and co-payments for psychotherapy sessions
- Wellness/educational activities and events such as summer camp admission, swimming lessons, or a museum pass
- Supplies for hobbies that promote joy and fulfillment such as sports equipment, musical instruments, art supplies, and crafting materials
How Do I Apply?
- Applications are reviewed on an ongoing basis. Funds are limited and subject to availability (we will update this page if new applications are no longer being considered).
- Applicants will be asked to provide the following information: contact information, details about their caregiving situation, as well as their plans and rationale for the funds being requested.
- Caregiving youth under the age of 18 will need the consent of a parent or guardian for their application.
